Ah Beng
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ah Beng is a term commonly given to a member of a group of young Chinese men in Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore and Malaysia. These Chinese men, whose age ranging from their early teens to late 20s, usually centralise in the busier and more developed cities in the region, but are usually seen as originating from smaller or more rural towns. Ah bengs typically speak local slang, which is Hokkien or Cantonese mixed with English and Malay, such as Manglish or Singlish. They are often stereotypically portrayed to be anti-intellectual, superficial and materialistic and shallow. These values often lead to a lack of culture or indulgence in criminal activity or being involved in brawling or arguing out of disagreements with other people. Ah bengs are also sometimes associated with extensively-modified or zhng-ed cars, [1] and are stereotypically seen as being excessively flashy and show-offs. Ah Beng commonly are seen in gaudy patterned shirts, loafers without socks, gold jade rings and gold often counterfeit Rolexes .
The term 'Ah Beng' is also sometimes used to describe young Chinese men in Southeast Asia who cannot speak fluent English and/or have graduated from the secular Chinese education system of the region.
In Malaysia, the term 'Ah Beng' usually refers to males who have unusual styles and tastes. And the term 'lala-zai' refers to males involved in stereotypical gangster activity or fashion such as the dyeing of hair.

I'm an addict!

I'll talk a little bit about addiction today.

We all love wiki for a reason : the Unified view or a good reference when we need some definition... (that's addiction too)

Addiction was a term used to describe a devotion, attachment, dedication, inclination, etc. Nowadays, however, the term addiction is used to describe a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individual's health, mental state or social life.

I often get this "Do you smoke?"... some people even offered me ~ here u go.. and seeing their eyes grow big when i said "I Don't smoke" is quite funny~ I have friends who are addicted to smoking until they have collection... So is this a bad addiction?

Was having breakfast with momz this morning - Coffee was her addiction she mentioned shyly.. She said something about it's all about mentality - one of my aunt is addicted to these pills she takes to avoid car-sick. But when my mom sat with her and kept her occupied - she kinda forgot to take the pill @_@

Last week, Rudy & JJ went missing.. duno what happened - somehow.. it was like a week without his trademark laugh... Am I addicted?

So I wonder... is there such thing as bad addiction? is there such thing as good addiction?

Guess what I'm addicted to... I'm addicted to Mr. J's voice... Called him 4 times yesterday ^_^

The wonders of word selection...

Like i previously mentioned... I now attend a part time interest, during class ... lecturer drew three lumps...

None of us said what we laughed about...

He started to say that in many cases, our brain would consider other influences - Environment, Circumstances, People... and we tend to choose what we would "re-word" what is appropriate.

On the other side of the world, we have people who would just say anything at all... without thinking. Some people even loves to speak down to other people just to make themselves feel good. Some even to the extend just to piss someone off...

Don'ts
1. Don't try to manage it on your own. Ever.
2. Don't isolate yourself. (Doing so guarantees a bad case of "stinkin' thinkin'!")
3. Don't assume it's just your life's circumstances. (It can easily be a chemical imbalance in your brain combined with circumstances.)
4. Don't listen to angry, dark, upsetting, unsettling music. Ever. (It is counter-productive. It feeds depression... feeds it all those things that are not healthy for you: angst, anxiety, fear, anger, rage, melencholy...)
5. Don't eat unhealthy. Ever. (Unhealthy, a.k.a. junk food, fast food, prepackaged food.)


Do's
6. Do seek out "good friends". (The internet is not a replacement for some good old face-to-face with a close friend, compadre, or loving significant other.) Don't create MORE problems for yourself by chosing someone who feeds the monster.)
7. Do seek (professional) help if you're DWD and it's obviously more than just the occassional "blues".
8. Eat healthier! (More greens. Less burgers and fries. Healthier body, healthier mind.)
9. Listen to instrumental music with upbeat tempo and rhythm.
10. Watch a lot of comedy. Belly laugh! (Laughter really is the best medicine.)

1. Don't think of food as sex.
2. Don't resort to alcohol or drugs.
3. Do take Tiramisu. (Think happy food) or strawberry or chawan-mushi or salmon~~ yumz ^__^

Baby Festival

it's Baby festival ~~ recently - NEW BORN was in my journey this week!

Went to KL Bird Park recently - coz of one of my Upcoming Charity Event - BIRD QUEST FAMILY HUNT 2008 (if you are interested to contribute in any ways - let me know!)

Anyways... in KL Bird Park - was planning some treasure hunt - and saw the "NURSERY" awww...

keke.. did you notice one chic was looking at the camera? cute huh?

On March 23, 2008 - our youngest member in our club joined us ~ Welcome "Ming Xuan"!

That night I drove with this question "Would you rather be the father or the mother?"

Rishy said "Father ... for obvious physical reasons" @_@?

Then attended my mom's good friend's Grandson's Baptism -- Cute Francis (son of Little Kev)

Yup. They didn't bathe the whole baby - and being me (Short Term Memory) - I forgot to ask whether the water was warm or not... my bad..

3 years ago...it was almost Christmas, that I've suddenly made my mind about ADOPTING a cat. We all know the CONSTANT radio ads of SPCA did affect some people (ME).


Driving with full excitement and guilt (coz mumz didn't agree) to SPCA, it was something that I told myself to do before my trip. Was there "window shopping"... and there and then.. I saw this cage with 3 kittens "awwwww"...


"Tu kitten comel ke?"
"Yes yes.. very cute"
"Well.. let me open the cage for u"


Soon enof.. 1 super hyper active spring out... *no.. too hyper*
White one came walking out.. like super model... *mmm female...*
1 came out straight to my leg... and start manja-ing *heart-melt!!*


I fell in love with him immediately ~~ wanted to take him home - but I still need to "discuss" with mumz...


"Just to let you know... these cages are to be put to sleep tomorrow.. we are running out of spaces..."
"WHAT? you mean.. omgg..." *speechless.. heart beat went up*
"but.. i have a holiday trip to go... can I pick him up like next week?"

my part time interest

I got a new found part time interest ~~ I've always wanted to do this!!

Driving along the Federal Highway... it's 1.29pm -- will I make it? It starts at 2pm!! Almost hit someone crossing the road *gulp* when I did a fast moving REVERSE to get the spot of car park!
OK Ok... I'm in the building ... 1.50pm ~~ good time for registration and proceed to class!

"How may I help you?"
"I'm here for the Part Time Graphic Design Course?"
"Ohh.. that's on our other building..."

PJCAD~ is where I would be spending the rest of my Saturdays for the next 3 months! Yes. I'm taking up Graphic Design. Always wanted to.. and when you finally get to do something that you want ~ let me tell you this - IT FEELS GOOD! :)

In the coming up "episodes", you would see WHY i took up Graphic Design ~~ I'm gonna design a logo for "Strawberrymeowz" ~~
